This post was written before President Biden dropped out of the race on 7/21. Hello folks, we're back with BuzzFeed's 2024 Election Diaries! Inspired by one of the most divided election years in US history, every week, I ask different groups of voters what their #1 political issue is AND which candidate they plan to vote for in November. For this round, we asked millennials (voters ages 28–43) to share their honest thoughts on the 2024 election. Millennials make up nearly 1/4 of the entire voting population in the US, and they're getting honest about their plans for November. Here are 22 political confessions from millennial voters: 1. "Preserving democracy is my top issue. I disagree with Joe Biden on a lot, particularly his handling of Gaza. But if Donald Trump is elected, I don't know if we'll ever have free and fair elections again." 2. "International stability is my top issue. I am disappointed with the Democratic Party's choice to stick with Biden, who I deem too old and unfit for the role. Trump is a terrible person. I do not know what to do." 3. "Education and parental rights are my top issues. I'm aligned with the party vision of patriotism, less federal oversight, more localized decision-making, a return to self-reliance, and not being judged by the color of your skin but rather by the content of your character." 4. "RFK Jr. represents an opposition to the two-party system, which has repeatedly disappointed us. He has expressed interest in addressing the unreasonable cost of living and the chronic disease epidemic." 5. "Transgender healthcare and rights are very important to me. I don't feel like any of the top party candidates reflect my values, and I really don't want to support someone who supports genocidal Israel." 6. "Ending the war in Gaza is my #1 issue. Unfortunately, I think both Biden and Trump are acting as war criminals for their unlimited support of Israel. If Israel wants to level Palestine, they can do it without US weapons." 7. "There isn’t a single candidate where I agree 100% on every issue. What is important to me is voting for someone who has the best intentions for our country and not their party in mind. RFK Jr. is the only candidate who ever answers a question with a response about what he will do rather than deflecting to talk about what the other candidates have done wrong." 8. "The economy is most important to me. In my opinion, Democrats are gutting this country. It feels like nothing has changed for the better since Biden took office. Only the wealthy are thriving right now. I'm self-employed, wages are lower than before COVID-19, and costs remain high." 9. "I am 100% anti-genocide. I'm voting for Jill Stein because she's the only anti-genocide, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist candidate." 10. "I have two children, and I want to do everything in my power to reduce the effects of climate change on their future. Joe Biden is the only candidate in the race that will take that seriously." 11. "Social Security is my top issue. I can't live without it, and, like many, if not most Social Security recipients, I need my benefits to be a lot (at least 2x) higher than they currently are because of the high cost of everything. I plan to vote for Claudia De la Cruz." 12. "The Biden administration is the only thing keeping millions of Americans, myself included, on the Affordable Care Plan, Medicaid, and Medicare with prescription caps and putting money into social security for older Americans." 13. "Women's and LGBTQ+ rights and protections are important to me. I'm a pansexual Mexican woman — three things the other party doesn’t like." 14. "My top issues are the economy and war. I'm undecided, but I could support Donald or RFK Jr. If this is the best the USA can come up with and we don't have any other choices, my stance is anyone that isn't Biden will lead us in the correct direction." 15. "Immigration is currently the most important issue to me. I was going to vote for RFK Jr. before the assignation attempt against Trump, but immigration is out of control, and the economy felt better under Trump. He's just more fun in general." 16. “Healthcare is my top issue. I’ve been a Republican all my life, but the party has significantly changed, and I don’t feel most of the big names merit the respect their title provides." 17. "My top issue is gun rights. Chase Oliver is antiwar, pro-freedom, and would be good for the economy. I would feel represented and proud to have an openly gay man as our country's standard bearer." 18. "This election year, I'm focused on economic growth. I believe Biden is unfit for office, so despite the divisive views I have of Trump, I feel obligated to vote for him as he is the 'better of two evils.'" 19. "I believe women’s rights must be protected. I am voting for President Joe Biden because he’s not a felon and is not a threat to our democracy." 20. "To be honest, I don't care if they choose Biden, Harris, Michelle Obama, or whoever else to run. I'm tired of the news cycles railing on whether Biden is fit. I don't care who runs at this point; I just don't want to let fascist right-wing extremists take even further hold of the government and give a pathway to Project 2025." 21. "I am a teacher, and I believe in the public education system, but there are so many flaws that need to be addressed. I disagree with school choice and vouchers and am concerned about where things are headed if something doesn't change." And finally... 22. "Freedom of choice is my #1 issue this election. Biden has spoken out against the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. When Roe v. Wade was overturned, I felt like a second-class citizen, and where I no longer had the autonomy to make decisions regarding my own body." Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and we'll see ya next round!

"If he wins, the Supreme Court is going to be taken over by an ultra-conservative supermajority for most of the rest of my life, and our rights will crumble. Trump is significantly worse on every single issue I care about, and I genuinely can't believe anyone is willing to let him become president again."

    2. "International stability is my top issue. I am disappointed with the Democratic Party's choice to stick with Biden, who I deem too old and unfit for the role. Trump is a terrible person. I do not know what to do."

"Based on his first term and the wise pick of J.D. Vance as his running mate, I believe that Donald Trump will effectively make progress toward getting us to that vision as a country."

    4. "RFK Jr. represents an opposition to the two-party system, which has repeatedly disappointed us. He has expressed interest in addressing the unreasonable cost of living and the chronic disease epidemic."

    Michaela Bramwell / Meta Imagine

"At the same time, I'm scared about being able to live and access healthcare as a transmasc person. Trump's VP pick is very anti-LGBTQIA+. I feel like voting has become about damage control."

    6. "Ending the war in Gaza is my #1 issue. Unfortunately, I think both Biden and Trump are acting as war criminals for their unlimited support of Israel. If Israel wants to level Palestine, they can do it without US weapons."

22 Millennials Are Confessing Who They're Supporting For President, And It's Definitely Not What I Had Predicted (9)

    Michaela Bramwell / Meta Imagine

"Israel has a right to exist, but they do not have a right to commit war crimes, and both Hamas and Israel need to be held to account. Trump will be far worse than Biden with his unlimited support, and I feel like that's at least a plus."

    7. "There isn’t a single candidate where I agree 100% on every issue. What is important to me is voting for someone who has the best intentions for our country and not their party in mind. RFK Jr. is the only candidate who ever answers a question with a response about what he will do rather than deflecting to talk about what the other candidates have done wrong."

"He has open conversations with people who disagree with him and always remains respectful. We live in a time where Americans look at their neighbors as the enemy just for having a different political opinion, and I believe RFK Jr. can heal this divide in our country."

    8. "The economy is most important to me. In my opinion, Democrats are gutting this country. It feels like nothing has changed for the better since Biden took office. Only the wealthy are thriving right now. I'm self-employed, wages are lower than before COVID-19, and costs remain high."

    Michaela Bramwell / Meta Imagine

"She wants universal healthcare, a living wage, and the cancelation of student and medical debt, and she will actively fight for a green world. We need to vote outside of the two corrupt parties for someone who will work for the working class, not the 1%."

    10. "I have two children, and I want to do everything in my power to reduce the effects of climate change on their future. Joe Biden is the only candidate in the race that will take that seriously."

"One party wants to lift people up, and the other wants to literally abolish groups of people. This has transcended politics and become a debate of morality, and I find the fact that this could go to the Republican party blatantly terrifying."

    14. "My top issues are the economy and war. I'm undecided, but I could support Donald or RFK Jr. If this is the best the USA can come up with and we don't have any other choices, my stance is anyone that isn't Biden will lead us in the correct direction."

"Then, when former president Trump mocked people with disabilities similar to what my son deals with, I knew I couldn’t continue to vote Republican and tell my son I wanted someone in power who didn’t respect him and his differences. His health matters!I can’t in good conscience vote for someone who continues to support the removal of health rights for any group of people."

    17. "My top issue is gun rights. Chase Oliver is antiwar, pro-freedom, and would be good for the economy. I would feel represented and proud to have an openly gay man as our country's standard bearer."
